Eldtritch Cut

Warlocks don’t earn their power. They borrow it, and borrowed power has a habit of spilling over. Deep in the Dungeon there’s a gem-cutter who makes a living catching what spills.

Nobody has seen the cutter’s face. You leave a raw purple stone on the workbench, and by morning it’s been faceted along lines no ordinary jeweller would choose. Warlocks say the cutter doesn’t decide where the cuts go. Their patron whispers them.

Each stone soaks up a little of that eldritch power, and you can see where it went in: green light burned into the surface, in shapes that look a lot like numbers. Roll one, and you’re not the only one watching where it lands.
